10 fun games and activities to do with kids on Halloween night

Halloween is one of the most popular times of the year for the little ones at home, and no wonder! These are perfect days to bring out your funniest and spookiest side with games and themed activities to ‘have a scary time’. If you are looking for ideas to enjoy a magical Halloween night with your family or friends, here are some ideas that will make your party unforgettable!

1. Scary scavenger hunt

Organise a treasure hunt with clues that lead participants to different places in the house or garden. At the end, the prize can be a pumpkin full of sweets! You can add ‘surprise’ elements at each stop, such as toy eyes, plastic spiders, or mysterious sounds for a more terrifying touch.

2. Costume competition

A Halloween classic that can't be missed! If you intend to have a party with a lot of people, organise a costume contest where participants compete in categories such as ‘scariest’, ‘most original’ or ‘funniest’. Set up a jury and reward the winners with sweets, Halloween accessories or even diplomas.

3. Pumpkin workshop

Spend some time carving pumpkins - it's a super fun activity! All you need are pumpkins, knives (with supervision if there are little ones) and LED candles for the finishing touch. Each person can make a unique design. If the little ones want to get involved, you can use permanent markers so they can paint the pumpkins instead of carving them - they'll look great!

4. Mummy race

Divide people into pairs. One will be the ‘mummy’ and the other the ‘mummifier’. The idea is to wrap the partner in toilet paper in the shortest possible time - the best-made mummy wins! Keep in mind that you will have to do this in a wide space to avoid tearing the ‘bandages’.

5. Halloween Bingo

Prepare bingo cards with Halloween motifs, such as skulls, witches, ghosts, black cats, etc. The first player to make a line wins a prize. This game is perfect for all ages and you can make it even more exciting with Halloween prizes.

6. Ghostly Limbo

Create a version of the limbo game with Halloween music in the background. Slowly lower the bar and dare everyone to walk underneath it. You can decorate it with spider webs or lights to give it a more Halloween themed atmosphere.

7. Screaming contest

Let everyone let out their best horror scream and select the winner as the scariest or funniest. You can set up a tape recorder to listen to the screams together and vote. This game is perfect for releasing energy.

8. Apple fishing

Fill a basin with water and place floating apples in it. The aim is to catch them with just your mouth, without using your hands! This is another classic at fairs and parties, including Halloween, which is great fun for the little ones. Just make sure it's safe and supervised.

9. Paint and decorate your scary mask

It provides blank masks and all kinds of materials to decorate them: paint, feathers, sequins and glue. Everyone can design a terrifying and original mask. At the end, organise a parade so that everyone can show off their creation.

10. Haunted dance floor

Set up a dance floor at home and prepare a playlist of Halloween songs such as Michael Jackson's ‘Thriller’. Decorate with dim lights and cobwebs for the perfect atmosphere. You can have a dance contest or just let the participants enjoy dancing in costume.

With these ideas, you have everything you need to organise a Halloween celebration that is fun, creative and perfect for all ages. Ready to have a terrifyingly fun night?
