In the Region of Valencia there is a wide range of interesting and interactive museums to visit with children. Museums are able to spark curiosity, surprise us and at the same time, teach us a ton of new things.

We would like to show you a selection of 10 child-friendly museums in the Region of Valencia to visit with children.

1. The Science Museum in Valencia

To start with, in Valencia there is the Príncipe Felípe Science Museum, a museum with highly interactive exhibitions and therefore ideal to visit with children! The interactive exhibits teach us about new technologies and advances in science.

This museum is great for children of all ages. There are areas specially designed for the youngest children, such as the Espai de Xiquets where they can play with water and construct with soft building materials. The older children can attend science workshops.

2. A toy museum

Denia was once known worldwide as the centre of the toy making industry. If you want to know a little more about its istpry we suggest visiting the Toy Museum of Denia with children to see the toys they produced in the town of Denia from 1904 to 1960. Toy manufacture began firstly with tinplate then ten years later, wooden toys were produced.

3. A magic museum

If you like magic we suggest the Magic Museum of the magician Yunke in Peñiscola. It not only shows us the history of the great magicians but also offers shows with impressive performances in a small but charming venue.

4. A pirate museum

If your children like pirate stories, this museum is just for them!

In Cullera you can visit the Dragut Pirate Cave-Museum where you can learn about the way of life of pirates in Mediterranean waters in the 16th century, see old nautical equipment, artillery pieces, historical maps, clothing, coins and a life-size replica of the assault galley in which Dragut reached the Cullera coast...

6. Learn more about Las Fallas and other festivals

If you want to know a little more about Las Fallas, do not hesitate to visit the Museu Faller de Gandia. Here you will enjoy the best "Ninots" and learn about the process of creating a falla, you will discover the profession of the fallero artist, unique in the world. You will discover how typical Valencian "fallera" dresses, you will experience a real "mascletà".

In Villena you can learn more about the Moors and Christians festivities in the Museum of the Festero. A museum that gathers an interesting collection of objects, costumes, posters, programs and souvenirs of the festivities of previous years.

7. Dinosaur Museums

Dinosaurs spark a great interest in children and in the Region of Valencia there are several interesting museums to learn a little more about these fascinating creatures.

In Elche we suggest visiting the Paleontological Museum (MUPE) where more than 1,200 fossils and reconstructions on exhibit give you a complete tour of the exciting history of life on our planet.

8. Visitar yacimientos

To learn a little more about the history of the Valencian Community, we suggest you visiting some of its sites such as the Iberian settlement Castellar de Meca in Ayora or the Illeta dels Banyets site in El Campello.

9. The Printing Museum


The Museum of Printing and Graphic Arts of El Puig de Santa Maria offers a historical journey through the world of printing, from its origins to the present day. There are workshops and guided tours for families.

 

10. A peculiar museum


In Oropesa del Mar we find the museum of playing cards. A museum where you can see more than 5,000 decks of cards. It will certainly be a very entertaining visit where you can see the largest card in the world, discover a deck that was used by two lovers to communicate .... and a deck that was used for military strategy.
