The beaches of Castelló de la Plana are little known to visitors from outside the Region of Valencia, but are very much loved by the residents of Castellón for more than a century. The city of Castelló has three beaches with an approximate length of 4 kilometers along the Mediterranean coast: El Pinar, El Gurugú and El Serradal. Let's get to know them!

El Pinar Beach

El Pinar beach is a very interesting spot in Castelló as it features the Parque del Litoral: a natural area for leisure and recreation that reproduces the characteristic dunes of the Valencian beaches. It is a perfect area for the whole family to enjoy. There are hiking and biking trails and playgrounds for children.

The Playa del Pinar beach starts at the northern end of the Port of Castelló and in its first stretch it reaches the Camino de la Plana crossroads. Wide roads and parking spaces make this stretch of the coast very accesible. In summer, the beach is equipped with showers, sports areas, recreational areas with games for children, lifeguard and rescue services, etc.

Close to the beach of Grao de Castellón we can also enjoy an interesting Planetarium that explains the mysteries of the universe under its large dome, but also contains the Visitor's Center of the natural reserve of the Columbretes Islands.

Visiting the Planetarium and the Columbretes Islands Visitor Center is a good activity to do with children.

From its yacht club you can plan excursions to the nearby Columbretes Islands: a group of islands about 35 nautical miles from the coast; a marine reserve, a paradise for divers and marine fauna.

El Pinar beach also has other attractions for families and lovers of aerial activities such as a golf course and an aerodrome.

And beside these sports facilities, the Playa de Castellón Golf Hotel offers activities, menus and accommodation to enjoy with children very close to the sea.

The Gurugú beach

El Gurugú is an extensive and spacious beach, bordering the sea and the promenade that flanks the road between Castellón and Benicàssim. Here you can find several chiringuitos (beach bars) in summer.

The Serradell beach

The Serradal Beach is separated from the road by a promenade, which provides easy and safe access to the sandy area.

From this beach we can continue along the bike path either to the city's Planetarium or north to the beaches of Benicàssim, linking further north with the Via Verde del Mar (5.5 kilometers, ideal for families). It is a very good choice to take the bike and pedal safely along part of the coastline of Castellón with children.
