From 16-22 August 2023 Rototom Sunsplash, the best reggae music festival in Europe, will take place in Benicàssim. A whole week of music, culture, peace, unity and alternative lifestyles awaits you.
A Reggae festival for all ages
Each year the international reggae festival Rototom Sunsplash proves that it's possible to go to a festival with children and teenagers.
This festival understands that parents have not lost the desire to go to a festival. They also know how important our children are in our lives, which is why they have created special spaces where families can enjoy music, workshops and performances together. In addition, this summer the festival is reinforcing its family profile with important new features in its cultural areas aimed at children and teenagers.
Exactly what is on offer for families at the Rototom Sunsplash festival?
Family-friendly area at the Rototom campsite
At the Rototom Sunsplash campsite there is an area that is exclusively dedicated to families of two or more people.
The area is fenced, has a children's playground and an entrance with a security point. It is an area where children and their families can play and rest, and no disturbing, unhealthy, harmful, dangerous or illegal activities are tolerated.
Magicomundo
Magicomundo is a space within the festival designed to encourage creativity and imagination. Each day there will be more than four hours of activities: free play, workshops, conferences and circus and music shows.
Magicomundo will receive the message of Zoo, one of the most acclaimed bands on the current scene - who will perform on the Main Stage on Monday, 21 August - through 'Zoo Il-lustrat', an educational, literary, artistic and intergenerational project. Aimed at audiences aged 6 to 12, 'Zoo Il-lustrat' adapts five of the band's songs, tackling subjects such as mental health.
Rojo', the first solo work by the renowned and award-winning actress, dancer and clown Mireia Miracle, makes its debut on the circus scene. A journey that incorporates the audience as a direct participant and that opts for a universal language without words, because 'Rojo' wants to reach all kinds of audiences regardless of their nationality, culture, age, gender or social situation.
Rototom Sunsplah with teenagers: Teen Yard
If you visit the festival with teenagers you can enjoy the Teen Yard.
The area, which will open every day at 16.00 hours, will expand this year's skate structures to include the emblematic Skate Park next to Urbns.co, and a new parkour area created by the Valencian collective R-evolution School, where different parkour athletes from the Madd collective from Madrid participate every day as guests, such as the 2019 world champion in this sport, Alberto Gómez, and Aaron Vivar.
This space will also host hip hop, rap and urban poetry workshops, urban dance and break dance and sessions to work on issues such as racism and gender perspective. Teen Yard will also host a creative space every day, open to all the groups present at Rototom, so that they can present all their artistic concerns, and exhibitions of parkour, open mic, rap, skate and much more from 7.30pm.
The Artisan's Market
Another of the festival's epicentres for family fun and learning is the Artisan Market, which has designed a varied range of workshops with 'United for peace' as the focus. There will be workshops on pottery, wood sculpture, making robots from recycled materials, textiles with botanical dyes and T-shirt illustration, as well as workshops on making handmade games, including the African game Awalé - considered to be the first board game in history - in large format.
Free admission for children and quality seals
For children under the age of 13, the festival admission is free. The festival also has our Tour&Kids quality seal, the only family tourism product club in the Valencia Region.
It is an accessible, safe and family-friendly space, with uncrowded areas and an extensive green camping area with plots reserved for families.
As you can see, the Rototom Sunsplash Reggae Festival is an opportunity to enjoy a different, creative and fun holiday in the company of good music and other families.
