Beaches in Peñíscola: fun between castles and sand

Peñíscola has everything for a holiday with children: history, good beaches and lots of atmosphere. The North beach is ideal for families, with fine sand, calm waters and a promenade perfect for strolling. It is also closer to the old town, ideal for combining a visit to the beach with a stroll through the streets of Peñíscola.   The South beach, a little more secluded, is also perfect for spending the day soaking and playing on the shore.

Are you going with your dog? Although Peñíscola does not have an official dog beach within the municipality, very close by, in Alcossebre, you have the Serradal beach, where the furry ones are welcome.

Beaches of Alcossebre: relax with the family

Alcossebre is one of those corners of the Mediterranean that you will fall in love with for its tranquillity, its natural surroundings and its well-kept beaches. You have options such as the Carregador beach, perfect to go with children thanks to its size, accessibility and services. Other fantastic options are the beaches of Las Fuentes or Playa Romana. You can also explore small coves with crystal clear waters such as Tres Playas, ideal if you are looking for a quieter plan or want to snorkel with the family.

On holiday with your pet? As we said before, don't miss Serradal beach, a dog beach located to the south of Manyetes beach, whose main characteristic is that it is a pebble beach with a small semi-submerged delta at the southern end of the beach with the mouth of the San Miguel river as an important natural value. It has a natural environment that you will love.

Beaches of Almassora

In the province of Castellón, Almassora is a perfect option if you are looking for a beach with few crowds, a family atmosphere and all the amenities. Benafelí beach and Pla de la Torre beach have quiet areas, all services nearby and plenty of space to enjoy without crowds.

Almassora also has an area of the beach that admits dogs, but only in the low season (from the 1st of October until the beginning of Easter).

Beaches in Oropesa del Mar: seven options to choose from

Oropesa is another top destination for families. You can choose from: La Concha (the best known, shaped like a bay and very sheltered, so there are hardly any waves), Les Amplàries, La Renegà, Oropesa la Vella, Cala de Retor, Platgetes de Bellver... many of them with services for children, play areas and beach bars right on the beach.

Dog-friendly beaches: On the beach of La Renegá, there is a dog area set up all year round. So, if your four-legged friend is also up for a dip, this is the place to be. But there are also other beaches where you can go with dogs only in low season.

Beaches of Benicàssim

Another destination with some of the best beaches in the Valencian Community to go with children is Benicàssim. Here, families will find certified and safe beaches with children's entertainment activities and a wide variety of leisure and entertainment options. We recommend, for example, Playa del Torreón, Heliópolis or Playa Almadraba. If you like cycling, a ride along the Vía Verde del Mar to Oropesa del Mar is a great plan.

Beaches in Castellón de la Plana

Castellón has everything you need for a great day at the beach with the kids. Gurugú beach is a favourite with families: it has fine sand, children's play areas and a promenade ideal for walking, cycling or having a drink at its beach bars. Another option is Pinar beach, very close to the Planetarium, perfect if you feel like combining the sea and educational activities.

Beaches of El Puig de Santa Maria: tranquillity, history and beach for everyone

Very close to Valencia city, El Puig de Santa Maria is a great option if you are looking for a family beach away from the hustle and bustle. La Torreta beach is wide, quiet and has good access, perfect for setting up your base with a beach umbrella and spending the day playing on the shore. Moreover, the promenade is ideal for a bike ride or a stroll at sunset.

Do you have a pet? Good news: on the beach next to the old Fishermen's Quarter there is an area set aside for dogs. So you can all enjoy the sun, sea and sand together without giving up comfort.

Beaches of Cullera and Gandia

In Cullera you will find the Racó beach and the San Antonio beach, two of the best known beaches and ideal to go with children. Another beach that is also ideal for children is Playa de los Olivos in the shape of a bay.

Further south, Gandia offers beaches such as Playa Nord, the urban beach of Gandia, which is very easy to reach with children. In addition, there are bike routes to do with children through the marshes and orchards of Gandia.

Beaches to visit with children in the Province of Alicante

The province of Alicante has many possibilities to go with children as it alternates beaches with small coves.

Beaches of Dénia: sand, coves and plans for everybody

Dénia offers a perfect combination: sandy beaches, coves for snorkelling and lots of entertainment for children. We recommend you to visit Les Marines, one of the most popular beaches that also has play areas. It is in the northern part of the city and is a favourite with both adults and children. In this area you can also find Els Molins, Playa Almadrava and Les Deveses, all of them with Blue Flag. If you are looking for coves, we recommend Las Rotas.

Travelling with a dog? Great news: at Escollera Norte beach, next to the port, dogs are allowed. It has signs, showers and a delimited space for them to enjoy swimming.

Beaches of Calpe and Altea: two Mediterranean jewels

A little further south is Calpe, a perfect destination for children with 13 km of coastline, where you will find 14 beaches and coves, so there is plenty to choose from. Its Arenal-Bol and La Fossa-Levante beaches are large, with promenades, playgrounds and clean water. You can also take a walk to the Peñon de Ifach if you fancy a bit of adventure.

Altea is quieter and its beaches are pebble beaches, so it is advisable to wear crab shirts. We encourage you to discover the beaches of Cap Blanch where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, there are playgrounds and sports facilities. Another very interesting option is l'Olla beach.

What about dogs? Well, dogs are welcome at l'Olla beach in Altea. Also in Calpe you have a dog-friendly beach in Cala Les Urques, ideal for a getaway with the whole team.

Benidorm Beaches

Among the best beaches to go with children in the Region of Valencia you can't miss Benidorm. The two big beaches are Levante and Poniente, with sand and plenty of space to play. Benidorm has 3 more beaches: Playa Mal Pas, Cala Tio Ximo and Cala de L'Almadrava. We encourage you to enjoy them with your family.

Jávea's beaches: a mixture of sand and coves to explore

In Jávea you are going to have a great time. Not for nothing is it another of the best-known family destinations in the province of Alicante. The Arenal beach is the most family-friendly and has the best services. It even has children's playgrounds. But if you fancy a more adventurous plan, you can explore coves such as Portitxol or Granadella, both pebble beaches, perfect for snorkelling with teenagers.

Beaches of El Campello

With 23 kilometres of coastline, there are many beaches and coves to choose from in El Campello. There are a total of 17 coves and beaches of sand, gravel and pebbles. Some are ideal for families, such as Playa de Muchavista. If you go with pets, you should know that El Campello has 2 dog beaches: Punta del Riu beach and Barranc d'Aigües beach.

The natural gems of the Elche coastline

If you are heading to the Costa Blanca, the beaches of Elche are a must-visit for families looking for pristine environments with great ecological value. El Carabassí beach particularly stands out—a paradise of fine sand surrounded by a spectacular system of dunes and pine forests; its calm, crystal-clear waters make it a fabulous swimming spot for the little ones. Right nearby, Arenales del Sol and La Marina also offer spacious, family-friendly areas.
