In this article we are going to show you the best family friendly beaches in the Region of Valencia. Since many families also travel with a dog, we'll also recommend beaches that allow pets.
The best family friendly beaches in the Valencia Region

Due to its good climate and mild temperatures, the Mediterranean coast is a great beach destination all year round. But what are the best family friendly beaches in the Region of Valencia? Let's find out!

CASTELLÓN: QUIET BEACHES

Vinaròs

The Province of Castellón has many family friendly beaches. Let's start in Vinaròs at the Clot beach with fine sand and shallow waters. It is an ideal beach to visit with younger children. It's an accessible beach located next to the urban area of the city. There are also three pet-friendly beaches in Vinaròs: Aiguadoliva beach, on the south coast; Llanetes cove, on the north coast and Boca del Riu beach, close to the town centre

Peñíscola

A bit further down the coast you'll find Peñíscola, a beautiful destination with great beaches. We recommend both the South beach and the North beach as they both have playgrounds for children. The North beach is closer to the old town: you can combine a visit to the beach with a walk through the streets of Peñíscola.

Oropesa del Mar

In Oropesa del Mar has 7 beaches to enjoy with children. La Concha beach is undoubtedly the best known, because due to its bay shape there are hardly any waves. Further from the town center we find Playa Les Amplaries, Cala de Oropesa la Vella, Cala de Retor, Playa del Renegá and Platgetes de Bellver. Pets are allowed at Playa de la Renegá, but only in low season.

Benicàssim and Castellón

Another destination with some of the best family friendly beaches in the Region of Valencia is Benicàssim. We recommend Playa del Torreón, Heliópolis or Playa Almadraba. If you like cycling, a bike-ride along the Vía Verde del Mar to Oropesa del Mar is a great plan.

In Castellón an ideal beach to go with children is the Gurugú beach. It is a beach with fine sand, a children's play area and facilities for practicing outdoor sports.

Beaches close to Valencia City

If you are looking for the best family friendly beaches close to Valencia, the beaches of El Puig are quiet and have wide promenades. In the Torreta de El Puig they are even accessible for pets.

The city of Valencia also has great beaches, and if you like cycling you can even go the more unspoilt beaches by bike. From the City of Arts and Sciences there is a bike path that leads to Pinedo beach: a beach close to the Albufera natural park where pets are allowed. If you continue you will reach the beaches of El Saler.

Cullera, Gandía y Xeraco

In Cullera, Racó beach and San Antonio beach are two of the most popular beaches to go with children. Another beach that's also great for children is Playa de los Olivos.

Further south, in Gandía, Playa Nord is easily accessible with children.

The beaches of Xeraco are quiet, beautiful and great for families because of their shallow waters.

Dénia

In Dénia we recommend Les Marines beach, one of the best-known beaches. Make sure you also visit these beaches: Els Molins, Almadrava Beach and Les Deveses.  If you are looking for "calas", we recommend Las Rotas. If you travel with a dog, we recommend the Playa Escollera Norte beach.

Jávea

Jávea is another well-known family destination in the Province of Alicante. Its biggest beach is Las Arenas beach, with lot's of playgrounds right on the sand. We also encourage you to go visit the smaller beaches such as Cala Portixol or Cala Granadella (both gravel beaches).

Calpe and Altea

A little further south is Calpe, a destinationwith 13 kms of coastline and 14 beaches and coves. To start, we recommend visiting the Arenal-Bol and La Fossa-Levante beaches if you like urban beaches with fine sand.

The beaches of Altea are pebble beaches. An advantage is that they are usually not overcrowded. We recommend, for example, Espigo beach, next to the boulevard (with easy access to restaurants). Another option is Cap Blanch. Here you can rent and hammocks and there are playgrounds and sports facilities.

Benidorm

Some of the best family friendly beaches can be found in Benidorm. The two bigger beaches are Levante and Poniente, with sand and plenty of space to play. Benidorm has 3 more beaches: Playa Mal Pas, Cala Tio Ximo and Cala de L'Almadrava. These are smaller coves, ideal if you are looking for a quiet spot.

El Campello

With 23 kilometers of coastline, El Campello has many beaches and coves to choose from. There are a total of 17 coves and beaches with sand, gravel and stones. Some ideal for families, such as Playa de Muchavista. If you travel with a dog, we recommend Playa Can Punta del Riu.

¡We hope you enjoy the family friendly beaches of the Region of Valencia! Don't forget to book your hotel or campsite, we have a great list of family friendly accommodations.
