Day trips with children in the Region of Valencia

1. Visit a waterfall

We love waterfalls! In the Region of Valencia we are lucky to have several impressive waterfalls. One of them is the Salto de la Novia. It is very easy to access as well as being beautiful. To get to the Salto de la Novia you have to go to Navajas (not far from Valencia city) and look for the Bajada de las Fuentes street. You can leave the car near this street. From here it is about a 10 minute walk along a wide track that is suitable for strollers.

It is an ideal excursion to do with the family and a day trip with lots of charm.

If you feel like staying the night we suggest Camping Altomira.

2. Enjoy a getaway to Cofrentes

Cofrentes is a town in the inland of the Valencian Community, ideal for a one-day getaway. But if you want to stay more days, we assure you that you are going to have a great time too. It is a town in the midst of nature that will greatly surprise you.

In a one day visit we recommend visiting the castle of Cofrentes and enjoy an adventure activity such as a trip on an electric quad, a canoe ride or a river cruise on the Júcar river. We are confident that you will want to repeat the experience.

3. A getaway to Benidorm and its theme parks

This day trip with children in the Region of Valencia is plenty of fun. Benidorm is an ideal town to explore with children.

You can choose to explore the streets and promenades of Benidorm by electric bike. It is a fun and easy way to get to know the city with children. The bike rental company TAO Bike also has trailers and seats for smaller children.

You will be pleasantly surprised by the easy and beautiful bike routes to explore! We recommend to take the route from Levante Beach to Punta de Cavall in the Natural Park of Serra Gelada.

But the fun doesn't end here. Benidorm boasts several theme parks. In summer you can have fun in the water parks like Aqua Natura and Aqualandia and at any time of the year you can meet the animals of Terra Natura or Mundomar. Terra Mítica will open its doors again in June 2022 for a summer full of adrenaline.

4. Visit the old town of Peñíscola

Visiting Peñíscola with children is a one-day getaway that will appeal to everyone. Peñíscola is a beautiful historical town next to the sea. At the top sits the castle, a fortress surrounded by a set of walls that protect the old town. The entrance to the castle includes a visit to the Artillery Park; a botanical garden with palm trees and native flora of the Sierra de Irta Natural Park.

5. A day trip to Elche

A day trip to Elche has all the ingredients for a fun day out. Besides having the famous Palmeral de Elche with more than 200,000 palm trees, Elche is well prepared to welcome families. On their website you can book different experiences for the whole family.

We recommend you to take a tour of the city with Ili Palmir, a fictional character that shows you around the city with the help of a map.

There are two adventures awaiting you: the search for the dragons and the traces of time. You can pick them up at the tourist info.

The first challenge consists of discovering the dragons hidden throughout the city: clue after clue, it's all about finding every last dragon egg hidden in the landscape.

In the second challenge, Ili Palmir will accompany you on a journey through time, from the time of the dinosaurs to the present day, discovering new hints and solving challenges that will lead you to the oldest fossil ever found in the city.

We hope you'll enjoy these 5 proposals for one-day getaways in the Region of Valencia.
