8 Things to do in the Province of Valencia with children

The Province of Valencia is ideal for a getaway with children. The Mediterranean climate is perfect for outdoor plans, visiting charming towns, hiking and sightseeing. Let`s take a look at our top 8 things to do with children in the Province of Valencia.

Visit Cofrentes with children

Cofrentes is a suprising family destination in the inland region of Valencia. Surrounded by nature it's a town that offers cultural and sports activities alike. In town you can visit the castle that is built on a basalt rock of volcanic origin. You can visit the castle with a daily guided tour at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can make a reservation by calling 96 189 43 16.

Another great plan in Cofrentes is to take a boat ride along the Júcar River. It is a very beautiful river cruise that takes you to Cortes de Pallás.
If you are looking for other activities, you can take a ride on electric quads (they are also suitable for children), learn to paddle surf or practice archery with the company Cofrentes Active Tourism.

2. Visit Ayora with children

In Ayora, an inland muncipality close to Cofrentes, they have restored the castle and it is open for guided tours and free visits. On Saturdays there are guided tours of the castle with prior registration at the Ayora Tourist Office. Free visits are on Sunday mornings from 12:30 to 13:30.

We also recommend you to follow either the the Water Route or the Red Thread Route. The route of the red thread is a tourist and cultural route through the Villa de Ayora that takes you along its monuments, anecdotes and traditions. You just have to follow the red line on the ground..

3. A rural getaway with children

One of the coolest plans with children in the Province of Valencia is to go on a rural getaway. In Buñol you can stay the night at the ACTIO Hostel: a hostel that organizes active getaways for families during long weekends and holidays. They also organize activities and workshops on Sundays.

Las Viñuelas Rural Tourism Center is another option for a rural getaway with children in the Province of Valencia. You can either stay in cabins or rooms. They have pleasant gardebs, a swimming pool, football field, picnic area and pine forest. They organize multi-adventure activities such as zip line, climbing, quads and archery among others.

4. Enjoy the coast with children

There are many family friendly coastal towns in the Province of Valencia: Gandía, Xeraco and Cullera are three of them. Gandía´s main attraction are its long sandy beaches, but we also recommend a visit to the Prado square so that the little ones can play, a visit to the marsh to learn more about nature or a visit the Fallero museum to lean more about the Fallas traditions.

Cullera is another great place to enjoy a day at the beach. There are also 6 marked ecotourism routes that you can follow on foot and by bicycle. With children it is also very interesting to visit the Castle of Cullera and the Cave-Museum of the Dragut Pirate.

Xeraco is a great beach and nature destination: El Massís del Mondúver is a mountain with more than 60 km of marked hiking trails, the marsh has a wide biodiversity of aquatic fauna and flora and the de la Safor Dunes that protect the beaches.

You can combine the visit with a movie at the Hemisfèric or a day at the Oceanogràfic, the largest aquarium in Europe.

If you want to stay the night we recommend the Singular Stays apartments in the city or the Camping Devesa Gardens on the outskirts, very close to the L’Albufera natural park. The campsite has a swimming pool, playground, bungalows and a themed mini-golf.
